Cake Love!

What is there in a cake not to fall in love with it!
So many flavors, so many shapes and sizes!
Frosting, Fondant or chocolate coating - there's one for everyone out there!!

If you know me, you'd know of my love for cakes!
Bake them, eat them, love them - do everything but smear them on the face on birthdays - such a waste of cake!!

Finally, I tried my hand at baking egg less cakes! And boy! did it turn wonderful :)
Had to keep myself away from it so that I do not finish it up! The cake was yummy, chocolaty and the chocolate icing made it more heavenly.. No cake left to share pics though!

As if one cake wasn't enough I baked three teeny tiny cup cakes yesterday.Who said you cannot bake cupcakes if you do not have the muffin mould... do not let it stop ya! When are the microwave safe bowls gonnna be of any use! I wanted to try the surprise cake, where the cake has a heart or some other cake inside.. I did not have a cookie cutter to make that pretty heart shape, so I just …

What I think about the book ! Not many times do I sit wit…

Just good friends!!

They called each other just good friends!
She was his friends's ex. The gentleman code didn't allow him to think of anything more of her but as a friend. After they broke up, she confided in him. They went on to become good friends from friends, but the feelings were same. She was his friend's ex, so no !! She found herself enjoying his company and so did he. Available yet commitment free! They knew they couldn't be a couple, the families wouldn't agree. She wasn't ready for a relationship and he was just having fun! Before they knew, they started sharing a relationship which better not be names. They were the best of friends, comfortable, free, no bindings!
Times changes, she moved on, got into another relations. He started looking for love, though nothing changed the late night calls with each other. He could feel her pain. He knew her time of the month and he knew she'd need to be comforted, and he did! He knew what she liked and made it a point to meet…

Questions!

Sitting here
Tears dripping down my eyes
Cheeks wet, eyes red...
Thinking about our times together
And then the time you hurt me!
Unable to draw a reason why?
Why the physical pain, why the emotional disturbance, why the ignorance, why the partial behavior?
No matter how much I try, I cannot forget and forgive.
Don't know what is more painful - the thought of parting and moving ahead without you or the pain of being with you!
Life can be tough at times, nobody ever said it was easy though!
When the world fights for bigger causes, causes which make me feel stupid, I cannot still put this pain out of my heart and soul.
Should I go on and live in the moment?
Should I put my foot down and fly away?
Should I run away from everything on the untrodden road?
Will it affect you?
Will you look for me if I am lost?
Will you feel bad, will you miss me when I am gone?
Will you find it difficult to look in your partner's eyes and not think about the love you never tried seeing in mine?
So …

Just for laughs!

Get a haircut done, hubby doesn't notice,
Change your hair dresser!
Get a haircut done the second time, hubby doesn't notice,
Change your hair dresser again!
Get a haircut done the third time, hubby doesn't notice,
Change your husband!! :P

Happy Birthday To Me!!

Image
What better than my blog to pen down my feelings on my birthday!
Lately, the family is going through a rough patch. The loss of loved ones is beyond words and cruel. Only time heals, nothing else does. This month came along with two such sad news and gave us a jerk to reality. No amount of planning or thinking can change destiny.
But this post isn't about the darker hues. No matter what might be going with each and every one in the family, every one was considerate to wish me a happy birthday. Nothing lavish, but the hubby, bil, mom and kiddo planned a act-surprised-12-pm-cake-cutting! I had a huge slice of yummy kiwi and death by chocolate cake. It was great to have all of them.. all of them who mattered to me :) Thank you guys :) You mean the world to me!
The hubby went a step ahead and got me a thoughtful card [ask me , why the stress on the card! He doesn't like getting them, doesn't like reading them and finds it difficult to select one] It has one of the most beauti…

And another month passed...

Her tummy ached. She felt the same feeble pain. She crossed her fingers, no this can't be it...Not this month again...

But that wasn't to be. She carried her purse to the washroom, it is still a taboo being seen with a sanitary napkin, isn't it, she thought. Her periods had started. No amounts or prayers and medicines had helped. She pinged him and told that her periods had started and he bravely told her to take care. He knew she'd cry and he had to keep her spirits high.
Been a while they'd been married now. Family and friends continuously enquired about the family being extended. They were ready to wait, may be another year. But then the unnecessary happened. She was diagnosed with poly cyst ovaries and the doctor said it might be difficult conceiving. All plans of onsite dreams and vacations were dropped and the focus shifted to doctors and medicines and having a baby. The pain that came along was not spoken, it was mutually understood between the two.

Crap post!

Yes, this blog is dying and the blogger has no idea what to do to keep it alive. So a stupid post ahead.. Do not read if you are looking forward to read something nice. 1. Utterly bored, sitting in office..  the internet is rather slow - yes it is, slower that my internet connection at home, and yes I work in an IT company and yes it is a reputed one!! Duh!!
I type in a line and then hit enter and then wait for the letters to appear so total Duh-duh!! 2. Everybody around me is suddenly getting pregnant. Not that it is bothering me, but yet talking about pukes and deciding baby names with everyone I talk is not a great conversation idea, is it? 3. I ordered a Turquoise kohl and I am loving it! Finding reasons to wear white, blue or black so that it looks cool. Went to the hubby and asked if he saw anything different. Put on my devil horns when he said no and then made fun of him for not noticing his wife for an entire day.. Hahahah 4. Stopped reading.. and writing... and painting! God…

My most memorable trip!

Image
Once in a lifetime, two people decide to begin a journey together – a beautiful journey, where you wish to stop and smell the roses together, get drenched in the rain, look at the shining stars in the night sky, entwine arms and write a future together. After a big fat Punjabi wedding, we began our beautiful holiday together.

We took a bus from Jammu to Katra. With the snow clad mountains and the hilly path ,the beautiful view and the perfect partner, there was nothing to complain. Add some coffee to the above mixture and all you get is a deadly combination! Pure Bliss!
Having a cuppa waiting mid-way from Jammu to Katra. It was freezing cold and when the bus took a much needed stop, we helped ourselves to some tasty Nescafe!! Ho shuru har pal aise, ho shuru har pal aise… Nescafe!

Friday night blues!!

The husband was out with his friends for dinner, Friday night. The bil wasn't well and so was at home. We were dog hungry, given that I don't get to eat the snacks served at office. Yes I pay for it, but no I don't get to eat it. Ask me why? Coz they are not edible at times and the other times people gobble up all the food not leaving any who step down between 5 to 5:30 for snacks. Anyways, so I put in some cold milk, cocoa and chocolate syrup and made this yummy chocolaty milk shake[still drooling over the yummmyyyyy taste!!!!] and toasted some bread slices with methi aloo. And we had this awesome combination, enjoying 'Castle' and the A.C. blowing at our faces. Then I retreated to the bedroom to paint! I paint once in a while and was in a mood to on Friday night. To my horror, the paints had all dried out and the brushes had become rather dull and dead. I couldn't really make anything even after spending more than 2 hours in the deal. Blue Friday!!! *sob* *s…

Just books! 34 Bubblegums and Candies - My review

Image
Author - Preeti Shenoy
☆☆

Preeti Shenoy is an author whom I enjoy reading! The stories are simple and mostly you can relate to them! This is her first book and it is really simple. It is a collection of short stories which you read and realize such things have happened in your life already. It is a light read for times when you want to take a time off from some heavy reading, no doubt I finished it in a couple of hours. Nothing very great but does make you go down the memory lane.

Just books! The Fault in our Stars! - My review

Wow!! This book is amazing from the first page till the last! Hazel is cancer patient, who has a world of her own. A brave heart who is fighting gets swooned over Augustus , who is a cancer survivor. This book is about their dreams , their love story, their life and painful separation. There was a fault in their stars, else this would have been "a happy ending". The book beautifully gives a sneak peek inside their life. The description of the types of books they are reading to the Anne Frank house to the Oranjee.... [you'd know it , if you'd read it] is absolutely perfect! For a moment , I wanna leave everything behind and go to Amsterdam to explore everything written in the book! It is perfect.. must must read!
This world definitely is not a wish granting factory!

Just books! Ajaya: Roll of the Dice (Epic of the Kaurava Clan #1) - My review

Image
Author -
☆☆☆☆

The kinds to be interested in knowing both the sides of a coin, this book kept me engaged! I am eagerly waiting for the sequel - Rise of the Kali.We think of Krishna as the God and Pandavas as the ones who were right, but it's great to think about the Kauravas. Were they really wrong? Or were they proven wrong as part of the big plan. Why were they renamed from Suyodhana, Sushasana.. to Duryodhana?
The author has beautifully woven a magical world where you get engulfed and feel for Duryodhana. His humanitarian ways, his friendship with Karna, his love for Subhadra and his marriage to Bhanumati - all feel so real! The description of the architectures is wonderful. I could actually imagine the castle build for the Pandavas. Some parts of the book make you think and re-think, like the one where Gandhari asks Draupadi why she chose to be the wife of five brothers and she wittingly replies.
Must read if you love reading mythology!
Suddenly, my view about the…

Just books! Those Pricey Thakur Girls - My review

Image
Author - Anuja Chauhan
☆☆☆☆ My first read from this author and let me tell you it is entertaining.. wants you to read and read till the last page. The author has beautifully described each character and you get the feel that you know them.. I can actually imagine the series of events taking place. Debjani delivering news on the television, her love for animals, her finger ring, her sarees, one can actually relate to.. Love stories no matter how common and how predictable continue to amaze me. So, if you like to read them, you should surely go ahead and pick this book. Am adding the other books from this author in my to-read list! Enjoy reading!!

Just books! Falling in Love Again - My review

Image
Author - Ruskin Bond

☆☆☆ It's a collection of short love stories! A light read where you don't need to use your brains just read at your leisure.. Some stories are good, while some are just alright. This was my first Ruskin Bond read. The style of writing is good, easy to understand and the stories are descriptive, no hurry... The talk about love is practical, what usually happens and not something out of a fairy tale.. But then I din't find anything more to it!!

Just books! The One You Cannot Have - My review

Image
☆☆☆☆☆ Preeti Shenoy has always been one of my favorite authors. The stories are simple, relatable yet deliciously written and can be completely devoured and digested. "The One You Cannot Have" is one such book, where the author describes about first love, the longing, the emotions and then the separation. Whether you are the one who leaves or the one who is left behind, the pain stays. If the other partner is understanding and loves you, life changes, but the thorn pricks. The story flows and yet again I was unable to place the book down and completed it in one read.. you will too! The journey of loving some one and then marrying some one else, comparing that some one else with the ex and not living is something we see around everyday.. but then there are some people "You cannot just have" in your life and you need to accept that!

Beautifully written and a light read! Must read!

Just books! Jaya: An Illustrated Retelling of the Mahabharata - My review

Image
☆☆☆☆A good book of Mahabharata secrets.. some of them I knew some were knew and they continued to amaze me. Though at some part in the book, I had to go back and check whether this was what I had bought this book for - the part where parenting and reproducing is concerned, but I guess that's the background laid by the author to understand what happens next.. The short stories about events make me want to read more, it clears certain doubts , at the same time generating some more!
Read if you want to know more, read if you want to know why the Kaurava's reached heaven while the Pandava's did not except Yudhisthira and much much more... The book beautifully enfolds the emotions of mothers and wives, the fear of having a child born out of wedding lock, the fear of losing, death, birth , curses and blessings!
What amazes me is that my viewpoint about the characters has changed.. I don't essentially feel that Duryodhana was entirely wrong.. or that Krishna and Arjuna are tot…
